Hi!! Though I’m still in the process of getting settled into our new place, I have finally finished organizing my clothes, shoes, and accessories! I realized while unpacking that I didn’t really get to show many cold weather clothes on the site since I started this blog in late February; so, while I am a little sad to see summer coming to an end, I am very excited to show you guys some layering and other ways to do cold weather ChicSavant style!
I’m still having a hard time believing that I live in NY! While I haven’t left the general vicinity of the apartment much just yet, I do have some events coming up in the next few weeks and I’m looking forward to showing you guys some different looks. Hope everyone’s having a great week!
Thanks for reading!

Hi guys! During my recent trip to Chicago, I had the pleasure of hanging with my very stylish brother and his fab wife. The brief visit, of course, included a series of photo-ops in Grant Park This is definitely a first for the site–a feature that I didn’t style. Lol!
Thank you guys for sticking with me and continuing to follow the blog. I’m still in the midst of preparing for the move which is happening at the end of this week! OMG!
Hope you liked the look!
Hi Guys! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you know that I’ve been doing quite a bit of traveling over the past two weeks! I am so happy to be home temporarily and will be posting a photo journal of my travels later this week. Although, I must warn you in advance, there are tons of food pictures and only maybe 2 pictures of me since I was the photographer
After my Wednesday WristCandy post, I got a lot of questions about the pieces that I was wearing on the blog. Many of you liked the bracelets and so I have decided to do a giveaway! The timeframe for this one is only two weeks and the owner of Sassy & Sophisticated has agreed to allow you to choose any item on her site at the end of the giveaway! In case you missed it, below are some examples of how I have paired Sassy & Sophisticated pieces in the past.
All you have to do to enter this contest is “Like” both the ChicSavant and Sassy & Sophisticated Facebook pages as well as leave a comment on my contest page here to let me know who you are! You can receive additional points for following us (me & Sassy & Sophisticated) on Twitter. The contest ends on August 14th. Good Luck!
Remember my Waste Not, Want Not post from earlier this week and how I told you guys that I ordered a set of Beauty Spoons? Well, guess what? Right after I placed my order, I sent a message to the company asking if they were interested in doing a Hairscapades Giveaway! And, you know what? They were!! Woot Woot! LOL!
The title of this post is aptly titled as I am most definitely on cloud 9 both literally and figuratively I wanted to share with you guys some shots from around the city so far. If you follow me on instagram, you’ve probably already seen some of these.
Hubby’s wrist candy for the plane. Does that count as a Menswear Monday submission?
Somewhere on this street in Brooklyn is the most delicious NY pizza I’ve ever had… & I’ve had ALOT of NY pizza.
Future home of the Brooklyn Nets under construction.
I never think of the beach when I think of NYC, but Rockaway Beach is just outside the city and was lovely!
I also wanted to (finally) share my announcement that I spoke about several posts ago. I have been holding it in for a few months now to ensure that everything was definite before sharing and, well, it’s definite…
I’m moving to NYC!
I cannot express how extremely excited I am! The first time I ever visited new York was in the early 2000s with my mom and sister on one of our infamous mother-daughter trips. I remember being absolutely enamored with all of the things to see, smell, taste, and do within walking distance. Since then, moving there has been a dream that will be a reality in just a few weeks. I can’t wait to have all of the amazing broadway plays, lovely museums, and of course awesome shopping just a train ride away!
Leaving Cincy is definitely bittersweet as I have met some amazing people, made some lifelong friends, and originated this blog and image consulting business in this lovely city. It will be dearly missed.
If you’re in the NYC area please leave a comment and let me know things to do, places to go, and things to see! Can’t wait to meet you all oh, and any recommendations on awesome apartments is graciously welcomed!
As you can probably imagine, posts may be a little slow for the next few weeks while I’m relocating. I will likely be doing a lot more tweeting, instagraming, and facebooking in the meantime. (follow me!)
When I realized last week that I’m going to be away from home on two separate trips for a total of 10 days, I may have had a slight freak out I will be in NYC for 5 days then back home for a few hours before I head down south to see family then up to Chicago for a wedding at the end of the month. Needless to say, packing was a bit of an arduous task.
In order to conserve luggage space, I packed jumpers and sun dresses for the daytime. I like these in particular because all you have to do is throw on a blazer, heels, and maybe a couple of additional accessories to go from day to night.
There’s the possibility of hitting the beach in NY, so I picked up this lovely coverup from Target to wear over my white bikini.
I threw in a few pieces for night activities…
& added the obligatory pair of jeans, a pair of pants and a blazer.
I always pack an array of watches: one gold, one silver, one black and one white. I also wrap my necklaces in tissue paper (not pictured) to keep them from getting tangled while traveling.
Heels are a necessity for night time, but for walking around in NYC during the day, I always opt for flats. My heels go into dust bags for traveling.
I kept the purses simple with a couple of larger bags for the plane and a couple of clutches for evening. I stuff my bags with tissue paper to maintain the shape and put them in their dust bags.
And there you have it. I also roll some of my dresses in tissue paper to keep them from rubbing against other items.
I always throw in a scarf and a white t, no matter where I’m going–its come in handy on many occasions. I pack things for hair, toiletries, and perfumes separately, roll the rest of my clothes for better fit if necessary, and everything goes into my pink Heys suitcase.
I will be keeping you guys updated via Twitter & Instagram mostly, but I will also do a few Travel Diary posts here with what I’m hoping to be lots of cool photos of my surroundings as well as what I’m wearing.
